Treatly romantic date night ideas - luxury cinema date
Our next romantic date night idea is an oldie but a goodie…a trip to the movies. However, we’re not talking about your average multiplex, but luxury and independent cinemas that offer something a little different. Before “Netflix and chill” became a thing, the cinema has long been the classic date night choice and for good reason. A chance to be totally absorbed in the magic of a movie in a dimly lit, cosy setting whilst cuddled up to someone special. What you get, on top of that, with a luxury cinema is a beautiful setting with sumptuous seating, smaller more intimate screenings, delicious drinks and gourmet food that certainly beat those questionable nachos! These cinemas can be a little more expensive but do make for a more enjoyable and romantic experience. Here are some of our favourites. What’s your favourite cinema for a date? Let us know in the comments below:-
Duke of York Picturehouse, Brighton, is an art house cinema in a beautiful historic building which has previously been voted the best cinema in the UK. They have large, comfortable seats (especially the balcony sofas) and a great selection of drinks including wine, craft beers and handcrafted coffee from their own South Pacific blend. They also serve gourmet pizzas, cakes and other snacks.

The Dominion, Edinburgh, is a boutique cinema in a listed Art Deco style building with table service, four screens with plush armchairs and bags of old-world charm.
Everyman cinemas (Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Harrogate, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, York, London, etc) have locations around the country and aim to redefine cinema by a lifestyle approach to their venues and a nice glass of wine or freshly made pizza straight to your seat.
Picturehouse has venues all over London. Their “Central Picturehouse” in Piccadilly has seven screens a café/bar, a restaurant and members bar & roof terrace. The seats are ultra-roomy as well making it a comfortable date night option.
At the Odeon Whiteleys, London, you can get food and drinks delivered straight to your all leather reclining seat. It also has armchairs and sofas at the back and especially good sound quality.
The Electric Cinema Portobello, London, is part of the ultra-chic Soho House group and offer both mainstream and indie movies in beautiful settings. The Portobello Cinema is said to be the oldest working cinema in London and is a decadent setting with plush red armchair seating, old world charm and little lamps on the tables next to your seats. They offer a nice range of drinks and snacks from the fully-licensed bar, footstools and cashmere blankets so you can be extra comfy. Instead of the front row of seats, they even have six ultra- romantic double beds!
